Gr 5-9-This series explores the development, current use, and future possibilities of various energy sources. An explanation of how each type of energy is produced is supported by photos of turbines, reactor piles, and other necessary equipment. There is also discussion of unsustainable energy use, the latest in clean energy science and research, and critical issues and possible solutions. "Big Issues" text boxes throughout the series call attention to problems such as disposing of radioactive waste, how to store energy once it is generated, or political clashes over fossil fuel deposits. Each book contains a section that explores how the energy source is being used in various parts of the world. A suggested list of books and websites for further reading is also included.
